Description of event/hazard:

Pyramid Bridge near Riversdale has collapsed and will be closed indefinitely.

The main pipe for the Otama rural water supply scheme, which was attached to the bridge has been severed.

The initial estimate is that it will take a week to restore the water supply. The Council and Otama water supply committee advise farmers to initiative water conservation measures for domestic and stock supply immediately.

The Council will have a water tanker stationed at the Otama hall from 11.00 Saturday morning to supply drinking water.
