Severe Weather Warning for Southland and Stewart Island
MetService have just put out a Severe Wind Warning – Orange for coastal Southland and Stewart Island
A deep low just south of the South Island moves away to the east today. This low brings westerly gales to southern and central areas of the South Island and Watches and Warnings remain in force. People are advised to keep up to date with the latest forecasts.
Strong Wind Warning for Southland, Stewart Island – Orange
Strong wind gusts could damage trees, powerlines and unsecured structures. Driving may be hazardous, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.

Westerly gales are forecast to be severe at times, with gusts reaching 120 km/h.
